Pumps, Seals & Fluid-Transfer Hardware
Pump sourcing decisions are head/flow curve, motor grade and seal type; two pumps with the same nameplate kW can differ widely on actual duty point, winding copper content and duty rating (S1 vs S2). Sealing hardware (O-rings, gaskets, mechanical seals) is priced on compound, not size — FKM, NBR, EPDM and silicone behave very differently in the same drawing.

Specification reference
| Attribute | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Duty | Head 5–80 m, flow 1–40 m³/h typical for small pumps |
| Motor | Copper winding declared, IP44/IP55/IP68, Class F insulation, S1 duty |
| Seal type | Mechanical seal (carbon/ceramic/NBR) vs packed gland |
| Elastomer | NBR oil, FKM fuel/high-temp, EPDM steam/water, silicone food-grade |
| Test | Performance curve per model; leak/insulation test per unit |
| Power | 0.37–7.5 kW common; single/three-phase declared per destination grid |

Questions buyers ask
What should a pump purchase order pin down to avoid disputes?
The duty point (head and flow together), motor winding material, insulation class, IP rating, duty rating S1/S2, wetted-part alloy, seal type, and the test standard (ISO 9906 grade). Those six items are where cheap pumps usually differ while still matching the catalogue.
Which rubber should my seals be for hot water or fuel?
NBR suits oils and fuels but not hot water; EPDM suits hot water, steam and glycol but fails in oil and fuel; FKM covers fuels and higher temperatures at higher cost. Choosing by medium rather than by durometer is the single most common fix in seal claims.
